Rant about my Internet Marketing University

  • Mood: Flusterpated

I usually start my day with my email (reading good content, and tossing all the ones from people who want my money), then I spend time at my Internet Marketing University (abbreviated IMU from now on; not using the real name of the program to “protect the innocent”). Today the Forum was full of posts and I’ve already spent over an hour in there; I’m giving up till later. The forum started running at 1/3 speed earlier this week, but those of us who complained got yelled at because “nothing has changed.” The dude asked for a screenshot – how do you get a screenshot of your computer just sitting there?

The people seem different too – more angry and desperate. One person started a thread about “Rude People” because she didn’t get her answers in an hour. I’m more worried about the Rude People on the other end – demanding answers, blaming others because they couldn’t figure out what’s going on, being inordinately proud of being Stupid and refusing to actually learn anything “too hard” (like HTML or how to follow instructions), threatening people if they don’t follow their links. I’m rapidly becoming so worn down that I’ll not get into the forum anymore – and that’s where all the best information is!

It doesn’t help that I found myself typing in my IMU blog that I had a major decision point coming up – I knew what I wanted, but had two different avenues to achieve it (HTML or CMS). I PMed one of the owners of the place (“One on One Coaching at Any Time!” was one of the selling points, but I had never done this before) with part of my blog post, and asked for his opinion. He wrote back 36 hours later: two sentences that proved he did not know what I was writing about (or that I had expressed myself badly), and a sentence that was basically “Do what you want – it doesn’t matter.” 1-on-1 coaching, indeed. I went with the wrong company, and prepaid for a year (the NO REFUNDS was not part of the sales pitch), so I’m stuck.

Gee, this turned into an IMU rant, didn’t it? Sorry about that. I’m just miffed about having to wait for the site only to read, “Gee, I could never do that, it’s too hard” (thanks for adding the useful input), “Go look for this video” (I hate video, I want TEXT – and the video only covers the step-by-step instructions that lead you by the hand anyway), or the third question in as many days on the same topic (doesn’t anyone know how to use the SEARCH function? Geez . . .). The useful stuff is very quickly buried inside a torrent of posts that add no value and have useful phrases in them like “move on,” “Good luck with that” and name-calling. I’d rather practice my writing. Aren’t you glad I did?
